Get your packing materials. To order online and see a full list of our packing products go to our online shop. You can also buy from our premises.

Make sure you have enough packaging. Any left over will always come in useful for something else.

Think carefully and plan your packing, hurried packing can cause many problems.

Only use Red boxes and packaging products or those of a similar quality. Cheap boxes can mean expensive damage.

Remember when you are packing you have to lift the box once it is full. Heavy items should be packed separately in smaller boxes, this will make your life a lot easier.

Purchase a Red notebook and list all stored items in numbered boxes. That way if you urgently need something that's stored, you can find it straight away.

All glass or breakable goods should be wrapped in Red bubble wrap or similar.

All dishes and crockery should be wrapped in Red tissue before final wrapping in Red bubble wrap, this will prevent scratching.

Clean all your garden equipment before you store it to prevent corrosion.

Legs of tables and chairs can be easily scratched, so why not protect them with Red bubblewrap or corrugated cardboard?

If you are storing clothes, buy Red wardrobe boxes. This will ensure your clothes won't get ruined.

When stacking your boxes in your cabin, put heavy ones at the bottom and lighter ones on top. Those you require access to more regularly should be stored towards the door.

Red Self Storage Always try to seal soft furnishings with Red covers or similar to keep out dirt and moisture during transit.

Remember to defrost your fridge and refrigerator before storage and leave doors open for 2-3 days prior to storage. You can imagine the disaster of a defrosting fridge in your unit.

And finally: try to make packing fun. Involve the children and family. The task will be completed a lot more quickly if you're having fun.
